The costume was designed by Michael Woulfe, who also did the notorious costumes of Son of Sinbad and Jane Russell in The French Line...

"The costume caused quite a stir in those days... As a matter of fact, my dance, partially due to the costume, was edited out of the film in several states in the country. I really was banned in Boston. Ludicrous by today's standards, yes?"
