1962-06-02: Folk Music Theater
"Pilot" - Dancer

Hosted by Linda Darnell, this pilot featured folk songs not only sung, but acted out.

"Folk Music Theater was a victim of bad timing.  The whole Hootenanny fad was still very much in play during the 60s, but all TV was being done in color.  The producers had no budget for color filming, so we did it in B/W.  I heard and have always thought, had the pilot been done in color it would have made it to air for at least a season.  People may not recall how important Folk Music was during those years; it played counter to the rock and roll that was coming on strong."
